Build a Coldframe

Building a Cold Frame

Several folks came to the Woodland Park Library on February 14th to learn how to build a cold frame. Lee Willoughby brought everything we needed—the precut wood, the screws, the drill, and screwdrivers—and took the group through the process. Everyone had a chance to twist a screw in place, which is basically all that’s required, once the wood has been cut. Lee and James McNamara discussed various options for transparent cover materials and insulation.

Please come back in about a week when the cold frame is installed. We’ll post the plans and describe what glazing and insulation was used.

P.S. Thank you, Ron and Kathy for contributing this page.

The front and back of the cold frame were assembled before the meeting.

The assembly was a group effort.

The cold frame is taking shape.
The cold frame is ready for a cover that transmits light and insulation to retain heat. Several options for cover material and insulation were explained.
